Complementi - Vaso Trionfo del sole

Vaso in porcellana tradizionale al caolino , h. cm. 47 , d. cm. 40 , kg. 9,6 , interamente lavorato a mano , magnifica esecuzione artigianale italiana firmata Richard Ginori 1735 .

The krater vase depicting The Triumph of the Sun was presented at the 1862 London Exposition with the following description: Narrative Medici Vase. The vase recalls the Neo-Attic shape of a krater vase found in Rome and preserved at Villa Medici until the end of the eighteenth century, when it was moved to Florence. This shape was a very popular feature of the Doccia Factory’s nineteenth-century production, and acquired the name Medici Vase. The plastic décor is from an eighteenth-century wax casting preserved in the Richard Ginori Museum at the Doccia Factory and is based on a bas-relief featuring Aurora, attributed to fogginian sculptor Giovanni Casini. The vase’s decoration shows important differences from the wax prototype, such as the addition on the back of two cherubs playing with two doves. On the front, however, the figures representing Night have disappeared, to be replaced by a cherub at the top, holding a torch and singing of triumph.
